What is the annual Rooted in Jesus event?
It’s our annual diocesan renewal, taking place October 18th and 19th, that focuses on growing together as disciples! This year’s theme: Vital in Worship. In addition to an abundance of accessible and participatory musical performances from various performers, the event will highlight community events and special services put on by numerous congregations throughout our diocese.
What are we most excited for?
– Hearing the Camp Tuttle Band on Friday night!
– Taking part in engaging workshops on congregational vitality
– Participating in communal song sharing with Music that Makes Community
– “Breaking bread” together with a group lunch
Our weekend headliners, Music that Makes Community, is a group that engages participants in the process of music-making with repetition and simple instrumentation.
Take part in the first evening of Rooted in Jesus. This livestream will allow those to remotely sing along with the Camp Tuttle band as we gather to strengthen our discipleship.
Participate in the Opening Worship and the plenary session with Music that Makes Community.
Watch the closing Eucharist below.
Day 2 of Rooted in Jesus will feature a number of engaging workshops. There will be two sessions with two workshops running simultaneously. Workshops will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis.
Consider the impact of knowing Why We Do What We Do. Why does the Confession come before the Peace, and the Peace come before the Eucharist? These and many other fascinating liturgical questions are answered in an Instructed Eucharist, where each part of the service is given a brief description before it happens. Hear of the impact it has on the congregation and leave with a great resource.
Explore a variety of ideas that allow for lifting up the heart of different services and seasons in varied and impactful ways: Advent, World Communion Sunday, Brown Bag Christmas Pageant, Holy Hilarity Sunday, the (endless) Sundays of Bread passages…
Simple ideas to incorporate into worship that every congregation can do. This is the workshop to come to if you want to explore small actions with a big impact.
Our facilitators will continue the work with a teaching session using a ‘learning lab’ approach. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from folks who are transforming worship all over the church and out in the world!
