The Rt. Rev Phyllis Spiegel

Twelfth Bishop of Utah

The Rt. Rev. Phyllis Spiegel was consecrated as the 12th Bishop of Utah on September 17, 2022. She is passionate about The Episcopal Church’s work of deepening discipleship through daily practices of faith, believing that deepening our daily walk with God profoundly changes the way we walk in the world. Bp. Spiegel has a commitment to finding sustainable solutions for providing stability and dignity for the unhoused and those with mental illness.

Assistant to the Bishop

Monica Daly is the Assistant to the Bishop. She provides assistance in scheduling, logistics, meeting coordination, office duties and other tasks related to the Bishop’s Office.

Angie Rogers

Administrative Assistant

Angie serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Chancellor, Missioner for Congregational Development, and Staff Resource Officer. She supports the Commission on Ministry, Clergy Transitions, Episcopal Community Services, and the Standing Committee. She also coordinates the annual Diocesan Convention and serves as a backup to the Bishop’s Office.

The Rev. Daniela Lee

Missioner for Congregational Vitality

The Rev. Daniela Lee serves as the Missioner for Congregational Vitality, where she brings her passion for community growth and deepening congregational life to the forefront. Ordained as a priest in 2023, Daniela has led St. Mary’s Church in Provo as Priest-in-Charge, nurturing spiritual development through worship, pastoral care, and sacramental ministry. Her prior roles, including Deacon at San Esteban/St. Stephen’s and a chaplain intern, reflect her commitment to holistic pastoral care and spiritual well-being.

Branden Burningham, Esq.

Chancellor

Branden is licensed to practice law in Utah and California and has practiced corporate and securities law in Salt Lake City for 30 years. A parishioner at the Cathedral Church of St. Mark, he has served as a Vice Chancellor of the diocese since 2017.

Bill Potts

Chief Financial Officer

Bill Potts, CFO, is the newest addition to the diocesan staff having started his work with Utah in April of this year. Bill will be working with the finance staff of the diocese to maintain the financial health and reporting of the Bishop’s office. Bill will hold an ex-officio seat on the Finance Committee and the Diocesan Council.

Bill will also be working with our congregations in support of their financial operations and reporting (ie: audits, parochial reports, assessments, monthly and quarterly reporting, etc.) As the role develops, he is hoping to add diocesan educational opportunities and training as further support of our congregations and ministries.

Thomas Call

Senior Accountant

Tom works closely with the Finance Team and Episcopal Church Center of Utah staff to ensure the highest quality of financial information as possible. He works to create an environment of confidence in the reporting of the financial activities of the Diocese.

Senior Accountant

Kay handles payroll functions for both the Diocese of Utah (EDU) and Episcopal Community Services (ECS.) 

She aids in benefit orientation and enrollments of medical, dental, GTL and disability insurance. She works on Property/Liability insurance for  EDU, ECS and Camp Tuttle, as well as payables for ECS.

Canon Craig Wirth

Communications Director

Craig Wirth is the Canon for Communications. The office is responsible for newsletters, media relations, webcasts, podcasts, social media, videos, websites and other communications vehicles used by the diocese. The communications office also serves as the creative services division of the diocese, designing and producing materials for both internal and public use. The Diocesan office assists the wider church in producing and maintaining the Title IV website for clergy misconduct prevention and convention live streaming tasks.

David Skorut

Communications Assistant for Mission and Ministry

David Skorut is the Communications Assistant for Mission and Ministry. He works alongside Craig Wirth to produce the day-to-day communications materials for the Diocese. David acts as the social media manager for the Diocesan social media accounts, authors the weekly Diocesan newsletter, and acts as a media liaison between the Diocese and each of our churches.

Guest Services Coordinator

The Guest Services Coordinator is stationed at the front desk to receive and welcome guests, direct phone calls, and coordinate events for the ECCU and the Cathedral.

The Event Assistant sets up meeting rooms for events, provides AV support to groups and performs basic building maintenance.

Koinonia Coordinator | Intergenerational Ministry

Karen servers as the Koinonia Coordinator for the Diocese of Utah, leading the diocese’s Intergenerational Ministry. She plans and leads activities and events that bring people of all ages together, creating meaningful connections and a sense of community. Karen collaborates with Camp Tuttle to expand its focus beyond youth to create intergenerational experiences, enriching our mission. Through retreats, programs, and shared experiences, Karen cultivates opportunities for learning, growth, and relationship-building across generations throughout the diocese.

Ingrid VanZanten

Camp Tuttle Director

Ingrid serves as the Director of Camp Tuttle, the Diocese’s summer camping ministry. Ingrid oversees the maintenance of the Camp facilities year round and coordinates the planning, preparation, and facilitation of many youth and adult programs during the summer and fall. Ingrid also supports the Youth Ministry and Youth Faith Formation teams to ensure year round youth engagement throughout the diocese.
